is Astrerisk required?

I am working on  WİnXP SP3.My question is that do we have to have asterisk
server in order to make a call in red5 phone application?

Hi fatih,
Red5Phone needs to connect with a SIP server via RED5 Server.
You don't need an Asterisk server, but you can use other SIP server also. if 
you don't have 
SIP server or Asterisk server you can use Free SIP providers like "sipphone.com"

BTW you should run Yate(http://yate.null.ro) or Asterisk win32 
(http://www.asteriskwin32.com) on your WinXP server. also try VirtualBox 
(http://www.virtualbox.org) + Ubuntu(Linux) + Asterisk :)

Hi Fatih,
If you have a SIP server or a SIP service provider. you DON'T have to run Yate 
or 
Asterisk(Asterisk win32). I thought currently you don't have a SIP server or 
SIP provider :)

You are free to use your SIP server or SIP provider.

I can make call but there is no sound in both ways.İs there any idea reason
