Option to "Lock" shortcuts on the home screen & app drawer

Please add a feature to disable all shortcuts. The reason for this is, when the 
drawer is open, when I try to scroll horizontally, I always end up dragging an 
icon to the homescreen instead of scrolling. This is really frustrating!

All you need to do is have a feature like so: Click on the options button on 
the home screen to reveal the menu. Add an option, "Enter/Exit Configuration 
Mode". When you are in the configuration mode, all the shortcuts are enabled. 
So, you can rearrange the icons on the home screen, drag apps from the drawer 
to the homescreen etc etc. But, when you have exited the configuration mode, 
all the shortcuts are disabled, and all the icons & apps are "Locked" in their 
respective places. Since all these are locked, the program will not have to 
decide if you are dragging an app to the homescreen or scrolling left/right. 
So, it will enable faster & more fluid interaction with the adw launcher.

Please bring this feature ASAP!!!

+1 for a (quick) icon/desktop lock on/off switch. I keep dragging things around 
unexpected. (large fingers)

I second that. I am using ADW on Xperia X10 mini. It works great but due the 
small screen size I sometimes  move (swap) an application into LAB/RAB by 
mistake instead of dropping it in to the bin in the middle.

Yep, at least lock for LAB/RAB shortcuts. It is pretty anoying when accidently 
realease application on those.

I really want my father to be able to use his Android phone. Recommending 
Android devices to the technically illiterate is very difficult because they 
can really screw it up.

Is this simply a symptom of underpowered devices leading to laggy touchscreen 
responses? I know it feels like that on my G1.

I don't think this should be done. Horizontal scrolling on the 'desktop' works 
perfect, while it doesn't in the drawer. So the sollution is: improve the 
horizontal scrolling of the drawer!

Rather than disabling the long-press input by default, what about an alternate 
function that could be canceled, returning to the app drawer?

For example, the long-press function could be changed to pop up app-specific 
options such as, Edit Groups, Shortcut... (on homescreen or action buttons), 
uninstall, etc., Cancel (or Return to apps drawer).

If the default long-press just pops up a dialog, then the person who didn't 
mean to long-press could simply cancel changes or hit the back soft key and 
return to the app drawer, instead of the homescreen.

I actually found this thread while I was looking for a way, how to disable adw 
homescreen editor... i have some setup and i like it that way, so I am not 
changing it and when I will need to change something, it wont bother me to open 
menu first and then hit something like enable edit mode. But it really bothers 
me, when i accidentaly move some icon, or open "size editor" on widget and so

This feature is now implemented, but it isn't quite perfect yet. You can still 
add things to the Home screen. But the current behavior is much improved.

IMHO, it is fine as it is.
I won't move something by mistake, but still if I want to add a widget I just 
need to press menu and add.

After all, it is meant to protect you from accidentally rearranging your 
widgets. It does that perfectly.

Does this still count as new? Would definitely love to see this improved. 
Probably not a terribly difficult fix and likely all users experience it. For 
me it is hands-down the biggest (but really only) problem I have with ADW. For 
a program whose function is to redesign a UI, seems like enhancement is not 
really the right term. Thank you for ADW, it's epic.

I have (on numerous occasions) accidentally moved something to the drawer 
button, trying to erase it. Would be nice for a way to lock the middle button.
It's quite annoying to have to long-press and add  a launcher action to the 
home just to put it back on the middle button.

I would love to see a lock checkbox under setting that way people who have an 
issue could check the box . It wouldnt even have to be enabled by default if 
there are people who like to be able to change it. I dont really see the point 
of being able to change it unless you have another launcher. Nearly everyone I 
flash to cyanogenmod has this issue once or more.

Where?  I thought you could only lock all desktop icons, etc.  how do you
ONLY lock the dock icons?
