Base Work

• Trying to figure out how to layout our mesh stuff. New to substance to it took a few tries to get the stuff how we needed it.

Day 1

• Initial geo in
• pass on initial textures
• learning the tools
• first pass on detailing on body (nails, elbows, etc)

Day 2

• did a pass on skin
• we're going to do the clothes as an outfit full body replacement to start so I need to set up the uv's for that
• did two heads for painting ref which has been helpful

So I need to get all of the clothes and extra bits on one uv map. I'm including the hair props too...

• Got a pass on the clothes done
• more work on skin.
• There's a freckle layer now but not super visible from this distance.
• Going to try to do a water color layer on the color channel.

Wrapping up for the day...

• Generated high low model file for baking
• Rebaked -This quashed a bit of my maps but it's fine. Good practice. Best to finalize map baking before painting anything by hand.
• As long as geo didn't move it seemed to retain the paint strokes
• Made rough shorts, long sleep shirt and flip flop for more variants

Day 3

• Playing with pushing edges a bit on a layer
• water color layre is kinda working. Need to get standard workflow

dinner break...

• First pass on skin palettes. I've got about 10 currently but will probably simplify
• Lots of polish on base stuff
• Changed teh detail stuff to be a height and color map
• Added lightening layer for nails and palms
• Lots of tweaking trying to be able to just change the base skin color and all other maps look good
• Only toggle on and off currently is for freckles
• Tweaked nose geo to better align on top of one another after tweaks
• Lots of use of the stitch brush today.

Merge Textures pass 1

• Export all maps to merge as channels + normal with alpha. Dialation + Transparent
• New scene with a simple ud' plane
• Each section as a new fill layer and use the exported channels as layer textures
• Export to whatever setup you need
