I'd personally prefer to set a speed to Beats Per Minute instead of the current beats per second. I have a feeling for how fast the first should be (I know instinctively the tempo of 120bpm), the second is very rarely used as a measurement of pace. (I don't know the tempo of 2 beats per second, until I convert it to bpm)
Possible use cases are seeing how high and fast a pattern would be if it were set to a specific piece of music.
