Installation Process #1

Hi there. Great work getting the system to install. So I have managed to get to the installation screen, I have formatted my SSD to APFS but when I get to install I get an error. Il get back to you soon with an error code. My question is essentially what was the steps you took to install MacOS? Did you disable CFG lock etc etc, or any other important points,

Many thanks for any time you can help.

Dan

My SPecs : XPS 9520 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 3050 Ti.

Hi! I have the same machine as you, but could not get into the installation process (I boot the OpenCore partition but cannot access the macOS Instaler). May be we can help each other.

My recommendation is to avoid using APFS and keep with Apple's legacy File System (macOS Extended)

Sure thing. I will get back to you this evening (UK time) with how I got to the installer including the changes I made to opencore.

Great! I am in Spain but kept asleep a little bit last night trying to make this work. Thanks

Hey guys - you'll need to disable CFG_LOCK by resetting EFI variable 0x43. I have updated the README.md instructions, should be relatively straightforward.

Hi! I could not even make the USB drive boot. I have an XPS 9520 with a spare drive, so I am willing to make tests and try to run my macOS apps on this machine.

Ezequiel double check your EFI folder has the boot folder as well as jkbuha's EFI core files. Then within BIOS ensure AHCI mode is chosen rather than raid. Secure boot also needs to be disabled. Warning though if you have windows 11 and want to keep it intact, Google search swapping 'RAID to AHCI without re installing windows'.

Just saw this now. I don't think you'll be able to install anything post Catalina on non-APFS formatted drives.
