Dimmed cursor alignment #8

Hi,

When I hoover the button "Mouse cursor brightness control" I read in the tooltip there may be a misalignment between the original and the dimmed cursors.

It's currently my case: the dimmed cursor is a few millimeters on the left (of the original cursor), whatever cursor sets I use. Selecting and accurate clicking remains a challenge.

Could we expect a fix on this?

Hi @molivier-fcms,

Could you provide some more details? Would it be possible for you to take a photo of your screen and upload it here so that I can see what the offset cursor looks like? (Screenshot will probably not capture the issue.)

Do you have any other cursor-related extensions enabled? If you disable all other extensions except for Soft Brightness Plus, does the issue still exist?

Do you have any cursor-related accessibility options enabled? E.g. Accessibility > Zoom > Magnifier, or anything else in those settings menus. If you disable those, does it make any difference?

Are you running X or Wayland? What resolution are you using? Are you using scaling, and if so, at what percentage?

I've noticed similar issue, maybe those are connected. Just when i have this extension having an effect (any dimming, when 100% brightness there is no issue) i see a visible mouse stutter, like it had lower fps than the screen, also you can see that the cursor in those movements has a regular brightness. Also, what is most annoying, sometimes it just disappears when i open a new window, so maybe some bug is causing the cursor to not get displayed? It poops up sometimes when i move but it's like once per few seconds and then it stays there or poops up simultaneously there and then. Also it seems to stop and work regularly after some time, but it's always there especially some time after fresh boot.

I'm using ubuntu 23.04 on X, on multiple resolutions, as I sometimes use external monitor but this effect is there as well. No scalng, no cursor related accessibility options. Some additional extensions but nothing related i think.

Anyway, I'm not complaining, it's the best screen luminosity fix I've had on gnome laptop, so thanks for the great feature!
