2 years ago Assuming FPS is stable after the program has been running for a while, follow the steps below:
- line 77: "tic" stores the timestamp when the previous image frame has been processed.
- loop over
- line 66~72: process the new image frame
- line 73: "toc" gets the timestamp when this new image frame has been processed
- line 74: "toc - tic", in seconds, is the time difference between when the previous and the current frame has been processed. The reciprocal would then be the rough FPS for the current image frame. Say, (toc - tic) = 0.1 second, then the corresponding FPS would be 10.
- line 75: fps = fps0,95 + curr_fps0.05, this calculates an exponentially decaying average of FPS for all past image frames. The "fps == 0" is just a special case for the 1st image frame.
