Need advice on what a better way to implement this is... .

If anyone can figure out how to do this better or how to do this with a ResourceExtension, I'm all ears. Thanks.

I'll have to take a look at Quantum ResourceExtension to see if there's a way to do it. If not this will work for now IMHO, we'll just create a bug to remind us that we need to research/move it over.
