The lates DD version (0.30.33) requires a firmware update for the MR3040.
You can find the new firmwares here:

Thanks - how can I check what DD version I have?

I'm guessing that it is the openWRT sys *upgrade* file that should use for my
V1 router?

I am also guessing that I have the latest version of DD and that 'auto update'
upset the functionality. :( Still, once working again, it may be
bigger/better/faster!

Yes you need the 'sysupgrade' image. If you have a V1 MR3040 the you need the
V1 one (ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade_0.12.bin).
Connect the MR3040 with network cable to your PC or laptop.
Access the OpenWrt web interface ( http://192.168.1.1 by default)
Go to 'System->Backup/Flash image'
Press the 'Perform reset' button (this will reset OpenWrt to it's initial state
and reboot the MR3040)
Once it reboots go to again in 'System->Backup/Flash image'
Under 'Flash new image' uncheck the 'Keep settings' checkbox
Select the 'sysupgrade' image that you downloaded.
Press the 'Flash image' button. (this will upload the firmware to MR3040)
Press again the button to perform the flash.
Wait 2-3 minutes, the MR3040 will reboot.
Be sure that the MR3040 battery is full.
After that you can access it again with http://192.168.1.1
The wireless is enabled by default, the SSID is 'DDServerAP'

Here's a temporary fix for above. Hopefully this will save a few hours for
someone else that may run into this problem until the genius that is Zoltan
Hubai gets time to fix it , and looking from this thread he's enough on his
plate. Kudos to you man this is excellent software . Had the same problem as
above , updated the DD app to the latest version v. 0.30.33 , and then it
wouldn't connect my d7000 to the tp-link (As soon as you try connect using the
openWRT button nothing just blank. Although I could open a browser on my
android tab and open up LUCI on the OPENWRT router to check that I at least had
a properly working WIFI connection. I also checked the syslog (on openwrt on
the tplink)and it showed that the tplink had registered the usb port with the
camera. I did the sysupgrade recommended for the TP-link to bring its firmware
up to speed but still no joy. The only fix I had was to install the v0.30.30
version of the android app and hey presto, it all worked again.

Not sure what should I fix. The V0.30.33 will only work with the new V0.12
OpenWrt firmware. In post #1 there is a link for for the MR3040 OpenWrt V0.12
firmware. For both V1 and V2 routers.
Answer #5 is for V1 and V2 user. If you have V2 router then you need to
download the V2 sysupgrade image.
this one -> ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade_0.12.bin
And then follow the step in post #5.
