"My workaround for this is to have a tag named Delete and have assigned #1 color priority to it, so that it gets labeled when I press 1.
Then I can periodically filter for that Tag, bulk "Convert Linked Files to Stored Files", then select all and Move to Trash, and empty trash.

Zotfile doesn't delete files for some very good reasons, at least in my opinion.
An alternative practice is to be careful in adding new items, making sure it has no duplication, complete meta-data, correct attachment, right tags, and, even better, a short summary as a note.

I have zotfile configured to put all pdfs in a single common directory. When I move an entry to Trash (In Zotero: right click on entry->Move Item to Trash), it's removed from all collections (except Trash) but remains in the common pdf directory.
If I empty Trash (right click on Trash icon and "Empty Trash") it's deleted from that collection too. But the pdf still remains in the common pdf directory.
How can I automatically remove it when
