Fix the first part of #17

@safadig I pushed another update to this branch, can you try the latest version? (Note this branch is based on the latest from main branch so you might need to update more than just a few lines of code.) This code works for my system. If you still have problems can you share any errors you have?

That's a pretty large setup you got there! If this work for you I doubt anyone else will have trouble.
