Now that gcry rockets actually work, I feel better about focusing on that for progression.
Ideas:
VAB, a 7x7x7 multiblock that is required to build rocket parts
I'd like to really extend the way fuels work wrt rocket tiering in gcry, but until then we can force higher tier fuels to be used in the fabrication of rocket components.
Although QS is a skyblock pack, other planets will have terrain. Ore diversity will be controlled so that mining does not get you anything that you can't get by other means.
The Moon still blocks rutile, but you do not need to mine to get it. You can use regolith (from moon stone or dust) in the large sieve to get crushed bauxite.
Planetary Drill multiblock will basically void mine basic block types per dimension given power, drilling fluid. This will be a source of moon stone/sand, mars, venus, etc. Each planet can be a source of different materials that unlock progression.
Orbital Core Drill can be run from a planet orbit to produce the same effect, without the need to land on the planet. Orbital Gas Drill can be used to mine gas & ice giants.
It's possible that we can introduce some intermediate shielding components to work in other progression elements eg. in the autoclave. The shuttle used LI-900 silica tiles, which are 94% air by volume and mostly made of SiO2. Could also (unrealistically) require rocket fuel in this step.
The first tier fuel is RP1-fuel, and this will be required in some way to craft either tanks, rocket motors, or both.
