When trying to merge this, I realized that my repo was no longer a fork of this one, so I was working with a bad version. Anyway, I've tried to correct this by hand. This PR contains some trivial changes, as well as a re-write of the methods. It's still fairly brief, but does a better job (I think) of explaining the algorithm
