Add support for Jellyfin collections #823

Hi,

I'll start with finamp is awesome. Thanks for making this awesome app

Can you please consider adding support for Collections? The reason is I like a lot of compilation albums and they all end up under the Various Artists artist. It would be nice to have an alternate way to get at them/sort them

Hey, we've thought about adding collections, but it will require some work, since collections can contain any type of media, including other collections, and even the new download system cannot properly handle that yet.

Couldn't you use playlists as an alternative in the meantime?

hey, thanks for getting back to me and explaining the issue.

After some thought, i think the real problem is that some kinds of albums are difficult to get to quickly for browsing. I like to listen to a fair few Various Artist albums, so to navigate to them I have to tap on Artist scroll to VA, then go to that folder and then i can see them. perhaps another way of looking at this might be to have a way of showing favourite albums? or have a way of putting a favourite Artist folder on the top bar?

just ideas and I totally get that that may be outside of the remit and/or time and energy of anyone to implement.

Hey, you can already do that! Try tapping the heart icon in the top bar, it will toggle between showing everything or only favorites. Just don't forget to toggle it back off ^^
