Wordpress2Blogger Files Convert, but won't import into Blogger #72

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upload split XML WP export files to Wordpress2Blogger
2. Attempt to import converted files to Blogger.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Successful import of WP XML file. Receive error "There were problems importing
the file."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Current Wordpress2Blogger online app. Mac OSX 10.5.8

Please provide any additional information below.
Trying to import from Wordpress to Blogger. I've got a 18.6MB Wordpress export
file that I've split into 19 files and got to successfully be accepted as valid
XML by Wordpress2Blogger. However, the files will not be accepted by Blogger.
I've attached a couple of the files for reference. Thanks.

Hi.

These export files are essentially empty, meaning that the conversion to
blogger somehow failed on your split wordpress XML files. Do you have a sample
of one of those files that you can attach to this issue?

Hi, just wondering if you've had a chance to look at these new files. Thanks.

I did find the problem with the partial files that you have.

The <item> elements in your files have a <wp:postType> value of "attachment."
These scripts do not currently handle post that are type "attachment." It only
supports "post" or "page."

A suggestion would be to change the postType of some of those items to from
attachment to post and see if you like the output generated when you import it
into Blogger.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Okay, well altering the posttype was enough to get the file to import.
Unfortunately the 'posts' that import to blogger appear to just be the titles
of image files from my blog.

Where do you suggest I go from here? Any other workarounds that might work? Or
should I consider asking someone to help me manually convert the files to
Blogger format? Thanks for taking a look...I appreciate your help.
