What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. fill "Find what:" with the string "->" (without quotes)
2. set scope to "All Documents in Directory"
3. press "Find All"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
- no results are provided, even if the string is present in the searched files

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
- gedit 3.2.3
- advanced-find 3.3.8
- Linux Mint 12

Please provide any additional information below.
- this problem is specific to the string "->", just searching for "-" or ">"
works
