Example for the tutorial converting a legacy XHTML options page to a WebExt HTML options page.

Part 1 :

replace preferencesBindings.js by preferences.js from the addon-developer-support repository using the universal preference background handler approach (using messaging)
still use prefBranch to store preferences and do not change code accessing preferences anywhere else besides in the background page and in the options page

Part 2 (still todo):

update also any other code accessing preferences to use the universal preference background handler approach (using messaging)
switch the background preference handler from prefBranchHandler.js to localStorageHandler.js
