Have you used one of the intermediate pre releases and upgraded to the final one without an account disable-enable cycle? That issue was caused by one of the pre releases and should no longer happen (on a fresh sync). DAV or EAS?
I was on TB 91 with TBsync v3.x then upgraded to TB102.3.3 which caused the TBsync add-ons to upgrade to 4.3. No intermediate versions were installed. I can also reproduce this on MacOS with an identical upgrade cycle. Sync backend is EAS.
I will try deleting my account on TB and re-adding, then testing again and let you know the result. Am about to go out so will revert later this afternoon.
Thanks for the prompt reply.

Where do you see the split categories? Are they already synced back to the server?
Hi,
I deleted my account form TBsync and then re-added it. One it had synced I edited a contact and synced to the server. The category was corrupted/exploded just as before.

This problem is still present: Newly added account in my TB (TbSync + EAS-Provider + CategoryManager, all in current version) to Kopano on server-side
Further observations:
Your environment
Opensuse 15.3 Linux with Kopano v11 groupware and z-push 2.6 EAS TbSync version: 4.3 Thunderbird version: 102.3.3
Expected behavior
Edit contact on Thunderbird and sync with server, changes are synced and nothing is broken
Actual behavior
After sync back to server the category is exploded e.g. 'Friend' is converted to 6 categories: 'F','r','i','e','n' and 'd'
Steps to reproduce
Edit a contact on TB and sync
