losing calendar on machine restart #712

Open realpshev opened 5 months ago

realpshev commented 5 months ago

Your environment

Fedora 39,

TbSync version: 4.8 Thunderbird version: TB 115.8..0

Expected behavior

When I reboot / restart my system and then Thunderbird I expect my previously sync'ed caldar items to be there.
...

Actual behavior

I get that there are no calendars. I bring up TBSyncv and nothing is checked.

Steps to reproduce

shutdow, reboot, launch TB.

To help resolving your issue, enable debug logging (TbSync Account Manager -> Help) and send me the debug.log via e-mail (use the title of your issue as subject of the email).

I've also seen this issue a few times over the last few months. My calendar and contacts disappear, and I have to reselect them in TBSync. I'm running Windows 11 and TB 115.9.0

This also started happening to me on a weekly basis. All my checked sync items in TBsync suddenly go unchecked. I have to re-check them and sync again. About 1 week later, boom, happens again. I am wondering if it is because authorization is being lost somewhere upstream? This problem might coincide with my also having to re-authenticate my Office365 calendar more often? I have not been able to directly correlate these events. I'm running Windows 10, TB 115.9.0 (32-bit), TBSync 4.8, and Provider for EAS 4.8.

I'm seeing this on roughly the same frequency as @mewalter as well as having to re-authenticate my Microsoft account

For me, it happens sometimes at random when it has been running in the background for days or weeks. Last time, I got this in the log:

It's also a bit of work when reenabling them, as it marks other people's calendars as writeable, visible and notifications enabled by default.

FWIW I've this too, Windows 11 TBSync 4.8. I'd assumed initially it was because I'm using BetterBird 115.8.1-bb25 (64-bit) rather than TB. It doesn't seem to trigger after every powercycle, but I'd say that's definitely the most likely time for it to trip

I inquired with our IT people to see if it was something they changed on the serer. They said it is a client issue.

Here is my workaround: turn off Periodic synchronization (in minutes) by setting it to zero. This means that I have to manually sync ... small price to pay for not dropping the whole list. Since doing this, the sync'd items have never disappeared. So maybe it is a client problem? Should a bug report be filed? Problem is that I never was able to reproduce it by identifying the environment, keystrokes, settings, etc that caused this.

I turned off Periodic Syn
