Despite the app name, I don't think music should have a priority over other types of media!
Quality of how the media library is presented is top priority. Bridging between file names and the collection presentation
Device apps other than mobile phone remote control apps should be secondary
Actually, even the remote control app should be secondary if the data browsing with apps like bubbleupnp looks good.

Need to remember other media such as books, games or any other collection other than the classic Music, TV, Movies and Pictures.

Been trying out three DLVA/UPnP servers and these are my thoughts:

Plex

Very reliable, very pretty, organises everything very well, a monster at gathering data from external sources of information.
Relies very heavily on authentication, that is, I can't just use a generic UPnP app in my android to control it and other renderers. It can make the 360 play everything but only when the Plex app is active, not when the box is simply ON. Not sure how it would work with a Chromecast but I suspect it could be a similar situation. I'm not sure this a bad point though because I don't have enough knowledge about the issues with not having a strong authentication layer on top of DLVA, it could be for security reasons or commercial reasons.

Emby

Relatively pretty, although still not at the level of Plex. Good media organisation, but still not at the level of Plex. Very nice interface with generic UPnP app on mobile phone. No silly authentication layer preventing the app to look into the media it serves and playing it in whatever local renderer is available (like the Xbox, even if not running any app)
Transcoding is not a 100% hit rate. Archer would not play sound on android, some other movies would fail to play on the Xbox.

Universal Media Player

Open source, huge amount of settings to play with, no issues playing stuff, but not flawless like Plex
Web player is Ugly as shit, I mean REALLY ugly. No web interface for the configuration, there's this GUI which launches with the server, fucking weird. Interface with UPnP app is also very generic and not good enough. Also it's written in Java...
