Could the dedupe list provide the most recent year the species was seen. It's far less useful if not
Maybe but we are tight on resources right now, I suspect that this might have to be pushed back to the next version/iteration. Any opinions @John-Handley ?
Presumably Dan you would want both the species and the data? A simple list would incorporate all species recorded irrelevant of date so I accept it's limited use but better than a list with duplicates. I think Joe's right, one for the next iteration and in the intervening time download the csv and sort is the alternative.
If resources as that right I think we should abandon this function of we can't also include the year. There aren't many sites where you get more than 3 or 4 duplicates anyway. What is this list used for? I would like a list to take out in the field to check whether a species has been recorded before. I can do this with a list with duplicates even if it means a bit more paper. But I would also make more effort to find interesting species on a list of they have been recorded in the last few decades. But I wouldn't bother too much looking for a mega rarity that was seen once in 1830 but not in more recent surveys. I'm not saying I wouldn't look at all but the year gives you more to go on. So my view would be to scrap this unless we have resources later to include the date
I dont see this as a priority function.
Add function to list species for a site without duplications.
Dedupe the list of species then like to sightings for that species. Default to list of species. Will the NBN dedupe for species at their end.
Investigate.
