I didn't manage to change setting after updating, and I applied a clean config file. If that option is disabled by deafult, it still is on my console. If the config file on the repository has that option enabled, guess I can simply modify the json manually.
You can set multi_lang to 0 manually. Generally the application would delete the config file if a new config option has been added. Did you say you tried a clean config file? (You can also delete it and it will regenerate it with multi_lang disabled). However applet mode may have issues.
your opening in applet mode you need to overwrite a title

I've seen other apps do the same before so I just assumed that was the case.

I did. I opened the json and the value was set to 0, so tried again to open the app and it worked. Then tried a second time and the problem returned. I thought something was being written into the config file, so I took a look, but it didn't change from when everything worked, so I have no clue what may be happening.
Hi, I'm using 4.01 but cannot open the txt/ini files.

The same with me. For this reason, I stayed on 3.2.0
After updating to 4.0.0, I encountered this problem. The app takes longer to boot, and only shows a blank, black screen with the column of folders and checkboxes to the left. Doesn't respond, so the only thing you can do is exit using the Home button. I then updated to 4.01 and the first time I opened Shell, everything seem to be working again. But since the second boot and onwards, it shows the same exact buggy behavior.
