• in this context, i think candidates means such as options, alternatives, choices, etc.
• 후보 is right translation for candidates in Korean but it implies as a person
• 후보자 is explicity means as a person. so the prefix "-자" is unnecessary
• 옵션 is the transliteration of option in Korean
  • i think this is very familiar word for Korean people and enough
  • 대안 is the translation of alternative in Korean
  • but it sounds like an opposite choice is required essentially
  • 선택지 maybe a good and a translation of both option and choice
