[Feature Request] Differentiate Backgrounds by Dark/Light Mode #509

Open donnydark0 opened 2 years ago

donnydark0 commented 2 years ago

Possibility to add separate Unsplash collections for dark and light mode.

More sophisticated alternative: Tabliss recognizes bright and dark images in a collection and selects them accordingly.

Also as an even less-sophisticated alternative, auto-decrease the luminousity at a preset time, similar to when the system triggers 'Good Evening' prompt. Can reset when the system trigger 'Good Morning' prompt

@cameronj86 So I think that is a very viable alternative for those pictures that exceed some threshold "brightness". We would need to ensure that this modified image is saved as a copy of the original picture somewhere so that it is not re-calculated on every "new tab" that the user opens on their browser. We also need to consider that the user could adjust the desired brightness. We always need the original version of the picture. Some things to consider for whoever ends up implementing your great idea!

Just enabled automatic system theme switching for a bunch of stuff on my device. I would love to be able to set solid background colours for when my system theme is light or dark.
