Incorrect formatting of newlines #702

Closed computercarguy closed 5 years ago

computercarguy commented 5 years ago

I used https://dillinger.io/ to write a MarkDown document, but the formatting with newlines is inconsistent with other MarkDown viewers.

Instead of showing the correct carriage returns, at double spaces only, it works on just MarkDown end of lines.

I've included screenshots from Dillinger.io and GitHub of the same file, so you can see the differences.

I don't see the differences, but if they exist it appears it has more to do with the CSS (styling) than Dillinger vs GitHub.

If you look at the addresses, some of the lines on the GitHub are all on a single line (including the telephone and description of the business), where on Dillinger they are all on separate lines. GitHub is correct, because I didn't add 2 spaces at the ends of the lines like I should have for correct MarkDown syntax.

As this is a MarkDown editor, it needs to make sure that it is representing the page according to MarkDown conventions, not CSS.

Dillinger is a free and open source app.

If you want to improve it feel free to fork it, make some changes and issue a pull request. Or just run your own instance.

Otherwise I'd suggest not using Dillinger! 🎉

Finally, what you're describing is an issue with the Ace Editor which Dillinger depends on, not Dillinger itself.

And this is why I generally stay away from open source, "Thanks for reporting a bug, go fix it yourself!"

You're right about me not using Dillinger again. I'll use something that follows correct MarkDown syntax..

As an option you could use https://github.com/benweet/stackedit/
