1 year ago General note: This feature is pretty well self-contained and therefore should not have any impacts on other features of CBECC. This system type uses its own EnergyPlus object (not used by other systems supported by CBECC), has a unique input screen, and a new report table dedicated to this system type.
Summary of changes made to implement hybrid cooling feature:
- Utilizes a new EnergyPlus object - ZoneHVAC:HybridUnitaryHVAC.
- This object has been available in EnergyPlus for a few years now and has been tested and refined by DOE.
- CBECC object and input screen - our team has an updated data model object and we have created an input screen to let users specify the Hybrid Cooling system.
- The system is a “ZnSystem” with type “EvaporativeCooler”. When this system type is selected in the input screen, system size can be entered and configuration parameters can be defined via dropdown menus.
- Translation of CBECC inputs to EnergyPlus
- Rather than using OpenStudio to manage the data model translation, a new approach is implemented using the Modelkit framework developed by Big Ladder Software.
- New report table
- New reporting table “H12. Hybrid Evaporative Cooler Summary” added to the compliance output form. Projects using this system type would result in a watermarked report.
