I've tried linking my alexa account atleast 6 times and keep keep getting an error message.

Although this may not be the same resolution, I managed to make it work by enabling 2 factor authentication on my account. I had enabled SMS message authentication and that sends a code which I assumed would work. When I enabled 2FA using google Authenticator, aka OTP or TOTP it worked immediately. I think my problem was a misunderstanding that SMS codes are also TFA and the "real" TFA required by this plugin. No criticism intended but could the docs mention the type of 2FA required right at the top of the page and explicitly say that SMS is no good.

(Now I just need to find why my iPad puts in two spaces everywhere!)
