I think this is more confusing than the current way. Now you always get the
result you ask for (same press results in same case).

Allow me to disagree with you.. At the moment you need a long press to change
from upper case to lower case every time you select a letter.. the way i
propose you have to long press once after the first letter which is normally
upper case. then only short presses to move forward as you don't need to change
it again. It saves time. Also sometimes you don't press long enough and you
will have to move back to change it.. I find it quite unnatural and annoying
the way it is now..

How about defaulting to lower case letters and using long press to switch to
upper case and advance? This would seem more natural to me than defaulting to
upper case, as most text is normally in lower case.

That sounds good to me.. It is more natural and does the job.. Then every time
we need upper case just press menu long.. next letter will default to lower
case again.. Perfect ;)

Lower case is now the default. Please tell-me if it feels wrong now ;)
