Audio not working on sky9x 3.0 board after firmware upgrade. #52

Which board (stock / gruvin9x / sky9x / Taranis) are you using?

sky9x 3.0

What is your openTx FW version?

opentx-r2491

What is your openTx EEPROM version?

215

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Upgrade to opentx-r2491
2. Move audio files on the SD card from /SOUNDS/ to /SOUNDS/en/ as required by
    the update.
3. Set language to English
4. Create a Custom Function in a model definition (screen 9/11) that
associates a switch with a sound using the Play --- function. I tried setting
the GEA switch to play AL3d.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

When the GEA swich is turned on, no sound is generated. Note, however, that if
I use the Play Sound function, I do hear the expected beeps.

Please provide any additional information below.

If I go to the /SOUNDS/en/ directory on the SD CARD setup screen and tab down
to
an audio file and hold the menu button, a window gives an option to play the
selected file. When I press menu to select PLAY I get no sound.

Since the Play Sound function produces the beeps through the speaker, I assume
there
is nothing wrong with the wiring or the board's sound generation hardware.

The audio functions worked before the upgrade to opentx-r2491.

Please check that your files are 8kHz or 16kHz!

I loaded samples of the .wav files into Audacity, and it shows them as 16k
mono. These are the same files that worked before.

I just tried using the Play Val function to play the value of P1 when GEA is
true, and got no sound. This, of course, would be independent of the sound
files. The Play Sound, however, continues to beep just fine.

Thanks for looking into this!

I tried reverting to r2413, and the sounds from the .wav files began working
again. I then upgraded to r2491 again and the sounds stopped. In neither case
could I get the Play Val function to work, but I had not used it before and
cannot say if it ever worked on my tx.

Would you attach one of your files here? Strange Rob confirmed that it worked!

I made a mistake when I said that my files were 16K. I have two sets of sound
files, and, while one is 16K, the other is 48K. The 48K files, which worked on
r2413, were on the SD card and do not work on r2491. I loaded the 16K files
into the TX and they work fine with r2491. Also, the Play Value function is
now working fine.

Please close this problem report, and thank you for helping.
