If this is a Linux tool, then it needs a Linux man page (probably under /usr/share/man/man1/ or /usr/local/man/.

There is a long history of the markdown formatting used in these pages.

This StackOverflow question has a ton of approaches to generating your formatting.
This man documentation seems clear, if not concise.

I guess we will use the nroff utility. This make the process seem easy enough.
