I can assume this is because SipDroid uses Media output system and not phone
output
system. So probably the BT is with A2DP that's why the low volume.

Bluetooth APIs are not finalized thus not available to applications yet. An
experimental [http://code.google.com/p/android-bluetooth/ library] does not
provide
audio.

I have similar issue. I cannot make my phone to transfer calls to Bluetooth.
I have Android 1.5 Rogers Canada Stock ROM and Jabra BT8010. As developer I
understand that 1.5API
does not have enough functionality implemented. But nearly half a year ago
sipdroid (~0.9) was able to
make calls via Bluetooth.
It will be nice to have this functionality back. :)

With the release of Android 2.1 to my Moto Droid, which my BT works great, will
BT
support be added to SipDroid?

hi, i have the same problem with my new HTC Desire - i would be very happy to
see BT
working soon

Since wide band codecs use the media audio
path, it should be possible to use a2dpc stereo
bluetooh headsets, but the mic probably cant be
used simultaneously. Maybe the phone mic can.

Can anyone provide an ETA on bluetooth support in sipdroid?

Please revisit the decision on this issue. Bluetooth APIs were added in
Android 2.0,
which has been out for about 6 months.

So where is the documentation? Do you have a link? What profiles are supported?

Original comment by martin.l...@gmail.com on 22 Apr 2010 at 7:26

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I think you're right on that point, actually. I remembered seeing a Bluetooth
API
added in 2.0, and saw quite a few people on forums abuzz about it, but I never
looked
deeply into the support. It looks like it's RFCOMM only for now
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/wireless/bluetooth.html :(

BT support would be a great feature. With the different level of BT APIs in
firmware
1.6 and 2.x, I guess it is difficult to code one version to support. Please
consider
adding BT support, either A2DP or HST profiles. Thanks.

Upcoming release 1.4.7 will address Bluetooth for output when selecting
speakerphone
mode. So Bluetooth loudspeakers can be used at least.

Original comment by pmerl...@googlemail.com on 30 Apr 2010 at 3:09

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
I've installed version 1.4.7. I also installed new firmware on my Jawbone ICON
(bluetooth earpiece), so it supports A2DP now.

Music and other media sound is working fine on the Jawbone. However, Sipdroid
still
uses the phone speaker. When I switch Sipdroid to "Speaker", the phone's
backside
(media) speaker shortly takes over (less then a second, which seems normal
before
a2dp kicks in) and then all sound is stops! No sound from the phone speaker, no
sound
from the earpiece.

I really want this bluetooth thing to work. I'm simply not using Sipdroid until
it
works.

I'm using a HTC Desire.

Thanks,

Vincent

Bluetooth should not override speakerphone. They should both be separate
options like in the native
phone app.

I to would like to see bluetooth support. Like someone stated above, I am using
a jawbone icon and have installed their A2DP. It doesn't work either before or
after the A2DP install. Would really be nice.
I do have to admit that I used a wired headset in a couple locations only
because bluetooth doesn't work, lots of RF. It does work great with wired.

I'm using htc hero, with jabra stone, which have music stream from A2DP
profile, and I can hear music, but not sipdroid.

Sipdroid is a king of phone application. How it possible to have no BT support
in phone application? In my Jabra3030 I can listen music on my N1 (with Android
2.1) but not to make a VOIP call. That is crazy me off.

I just tried this with an HTC Aria with both a Jabra and a Jawbone. I didn't
get any sound on either one. That was when I first installed it. It also
seemed that bluetooth became the "speaker", that was odd behavior. Now when I
try, it doesn't seem to use the bluetooth at all. So I'm not sure what went
wrong.

Have just got an update from market. Now it is version 1.5.3 beta. It has BT
mentioned as experimental into the settings (and I have enabled it).
BTW, when I call *43, I listen nothing on my Jabra BT3030 (which works fine
with, say, music player).

Oops, I'm running Android 2.1, which apparently doesn't work with bluetooth on
sipdroid.

I know it said that it was using bluetooth when setting the volume. Is there
any way it will work with 2.1, or is the API just not there?

I too have Android 2.2,(Bugless Beast 0.4 by Pete) but was unable to get my
Bluetooth to work with Sipdroid. I hear a click in my ear, as if it is about to
start working, but then the app force closes on my phone, and no audio is
heard. If I can submit logs or any files for assistance, please let me know.

Ok, now I almost can work with BT. It works if I during call disable and then
re-enable BT into the sipdroid's menu. Crazy enough, huh? Not enough! After the
call, when I try to deactivate BT from Android's menu 'Bluetooth settings', the
phone falls to reboot! Too bad...

Still really experimental, unstable feature.

I'm now using 1.5.4 sipdroid from market on N1 with Android 2.2

I upgraded to the latest CM6(Android 2.2) for my G1 which allows me to use the
bluetooth option and it seems to allow me to hear the other party as well as
send audio to them, but there is one problem. I sound like a chipmunk on the
other end, haha. I am using a Rocketfish bluetooth headset(RF-MAB2) with a HTC
Dream/G1. The headset works flawlessly with any other function or app on the
phone.
