text messages disabled by sipdroid #54

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install sipdroid onto Android 1.5 running on G1 phone
2. Start sipdroid and enter pbxes.org information
3. Open contacts and select a contact
4. Select call mobile
5. Menu choice asks if I want to use sipandroid or PSTN
6. Select sipandroid
7. Next time into open contacts
8. Select a contact and select text mobile
9. Phone dials number instead of taking me to text
10. No way to text a contact until sipandroid is uninstalled.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to be able to send text messages through the new Android 1.5 UI -
getting a choice of calling or texting and pressing "text" to send an sms.
Instead, pressing "text" dials the number.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android 1.5 "Cupcake"

Please provide any additional information below.
Cupcake's call process changed from 1.0 -instead of just dialing on on the
first press, there is a secondary menu. Looks like sipdroid doesn't
properly account for that.

The expected behavior is the chooser appearing for "text mobile" and the direct
dial
for "call mobile". As you see it the other way round please specify what
operating
system flavor you are using.

I see the exact same behavior using a T-mobile MyTouch3G with the Sipdroid 1.04
Full
(from the sipdroid website). I can't send texts, and it calls instead.
Everything
else works fine.

Any progress yet? Quite a disturbing bug, tough.

It could be the best SIP app for Android, so, please fix this :)

I guess this can be solved by following.
SipDroid>Seetings>Preferred Call Type> Always Ask.
After this system will aways ask you if you want to make a call through
SipDroid+VoIP Call or Android Dialer+SIM Based Call. So when you want to text
just select "Phone".
