Super long threads like this are common on Mastodon, and every single time a new post is added to one the entire thread (plus the new post) recurs in the feed.
Fixing that problem sounds hellishly difficult, but we should at least offer a collapse button for reply chains (maybe only limited to threads with one single participant).
