Apache and Nginx can be set to look for gzip files before to create them on the fly. This can save a lot of resources on high traffic websites.

@johndwells , I didn't expect to create these merge conflicts. It looks like my branch was so many commits behind, but... I fork this project just before made my pull request.

It's odd. Specially because my additions to your are less than fifteen lines. I can fork your repository again and try to clean up this mess, if you have intentions to accept my pull request.

I'm sorry for the mess. I believe my addition to your add-on is useful and simple.

Hey @robsonsobral I'm really sorry that I totally ignored this pull request - at the time that it came through I was just slammed and unable to do anything for Minimee.

So this is a really interesting technique - I've just merged the changes in, and will be interested to try it myself.
