Notify users when an ebook has been updated by the publisher #558

Sometimes ebooks receive editorial improvements. It would be great to automatically notify a user when an ebook in the library has been updated by the publisher. The download process, however, should require manual user confirmation and if downloaded to the same directory replace the previously downloaded version. Would it be possible to continue using the previously made annotations? Can this process be automated or would annotations be saved elsewhere and would then need to be re-imported?
