The phone number field is intended to be the primary point of contact of the employee. In some cases, it may not be their unique personal mobile phone number, but a shared office phone number.
In some organisations that have live operations, such as aviation companies, there might be a situation where an operation officer needs to be contacted. Given that there are multiple operation officers on standby, all of them will share the same office phone number as this one phone number will be called should the need arise. Thus, their records would have duplicated numbers. Our team does not intend to block these cases, thus there is no duplicate check for office phone numbers.
However, we do agree that we should look into differentiating office phone numbers from mobile phone numbers in future iterations of our application. As such, we have categorised this as not in scope.
