open sourcing the code? #1

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you have a timeline to open-source the code. One advantage is that you can get people to start using it and accumulating citations on your paper even if it's on bioarxiv. Get ahead of the exponential curve ;-) Another advantage is that you can get the community involved in maintaining it. MNE source code is rapidly evolving -- e.g., we use pyvista instead of mayavi now. It would be good to keep up with the changes so that the install can remain a simple "pip install". And finally, certain tools like CircleCI for documentation would work seamlessly if it were open source.

Let me know what you think.

Hi Mainak, yes as soon as we get something out we will do that, hopefully within a month or two depending on how busy we are with other stuff.

Any updates on this? I feel this repo has a lot of meat that could be useful outside of this project too
