I wouldn't maybe call the project dead, but it's definitely dormant. I don't really have the time or equipment necessary to work on Finicky, so I wouldn't expect any work to be done on it. Forks are definitely welcome if someone else has the time.
Here are some alternatives that might be worth checking out. I haven't used any of them since Finicky covers my own needs.
- https://browserosaurus.com/ - open source alternative by Will Stone. I don't think it supports configuration to automatically pick which browser to use, but it provides a list with options
- https://choosy.app/ - $10 app, seems very configurable
- https://browsers.software/ - This looks very promising but I'm not sure its configurable to automatically pick a browser
Any ideas, suggestions or other feedback
Last release was from January 2021, while it mostly work for me. There are still a few issues that are annoying, like a hidden crash after some time, or lack browser profiles support.
Maybe there are alternative that should be considered ?
