No it's definitely not expected behavior.
Zipeg is implemented in Java and based on 7-zip back-end code.
Can you check what version do you have?
Try http://java.com
this either check and/or update you java installation.
It looks like your java installation "path" is mixed up.
Do you have any other java programs running OK? LimeWire, OpenOffice, Vuze
(previously Azureus) or something like this?
I have reports from the field about crashes but they are fairly rare.
I just checked August stats and and I only have 2 crashes on XP for few dozen
thousands downloads.
If you want me to help you to investigate further please write to support [at]
zipeg.com and we can tackle the problem step by step. I will be really happy to
help and understand the source of the problem.
Alternatively you can always try to use 7-zip on windows - it's free.

I've tried update my Java to 6.21 and the problem persist.
I've extracted the files of installer and obviously I've found the Zipeg class.

Please get in touch with me at support [at] zipeg.com
I will send you debug version of the installer with the debug messages
available via DebugView.exe
This will help us nail the problem.
BTW, if you are java developer - can you sent me
set | grep JAVA_HOME
and
path too.
That might help.

I cannot reproduce this behavior locally. Please contact support at zipeg.com
with further details about your environment I will be happy to work with you on
this problem. Do other Java applications start? E.g. Open Office? LimeWire?

Hello,
the same issue on Windows XP. The reason is the following. I use the russian
version of the Windows XP, and russian user name, so my profile folder is
"C:\Documents and Settings\Пользователь\". Note the russian letters
in the path. The program installs itself in profile folder ("C:\Documents and
Settings\Пользователь\Local Settings\Application
Data\Zipeg\Application\") and I think the program get mixed up with russian
letters in path. At least when I moved it away to the folder with more simple
name it starts to work well.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the program, it is the only one I've found that can handle Mac zips
with russian filenames inside right.
