The speech balloon is an attractive and intuitive way of displaying an utterance as speech, showing how the utterance belongs to a speaker, and clarifying its role in the turn-taking of conversation.
Describe the solution you'd like
Design an attractive and adaptable visualization of a speech balloon that can be used in multiples games. It should be able to:
display an utterance as speech
show clearly who the utterance belongs (who is the speaker)
show clearly the sequence of the utterance within the turn-taking sequence of the conversation.
have an interesting "personality" that makes the balloon recognizable as almost a character in the game, and recognizable as a feature of Rez games. (This unique personality is to be revealed in the visuals and/or the behavior of the balloon.)
To display a 2-party conversation on a phone (portrait orientation, i.e. vertical):
the tail of each successive speech balloon alternates between pointing left and right (toward the 2 off-screen speakers)
The main body of the balloon remains centered, allowing for vertical resonance links between 2 different balloons
