WSC Version Confusion #77

I have a deployment project that is currently using WSC 23 along with partner 
27 and metadata 27, but I now need to use features in the metadata api that 
were release with version 29.

I tried to checkout and build the new WSC 29 found here 
(https://github.com/forcedotcom/wsc), but I'm having problems resolving all of 
the dependencies.

Does anyone have detailed instructions for building the new WSC 29?  The 
instructions reference maven (which I've never used and is not installed).  I'm 
also confused about GIT in general and especially the difference between GIT vs 
EGIT (which to use).

If not, is it safe to build the partner and metadata 29 jars using WSC 29?
