Paid, SLA-backed Support #17

Starting this to brainstorm a real issue we haven't figured out...

We'll eventually have to monetize Edupack. Lots of great GNU licensed software have been built by monetizing advanced support plans. We also know that Higher Ed administrators love Service Level Agreements ("SLA"), so we'll probably offer that for a fee with some custom tech that helps us maintain the SLA.

Ethically, Edupack's support needs to be available to those institutions that need our service not only those that can afford it. That means that Edupack should be priced in a way that community colleges and trade institutions who do great Higher Wd work with little budgets can afford our solutions.

We've been talking about a per install charge for different tiers of support. For instance, we can offer support of all core features for $11k and support of custom development for $14k on top of the $11k. We find that smaller institutions do not have the level of specification that larger institutions have, so the extra price tag wouldn't really be required for the little guys.

Our goal is for Edupack to pay core contributors by the end of 2021. If we're not able to do that, we can probably punt the issue a few years through Series A fundraising - but who wants to cede control of Higher Ed tech to dumb VCs?

This ticket will continuously develop. Curious to hear any brain dumps.
