The Problem Existing WP calendars are cumbersome, inaccessible, and not tuned for campus needs.
A possible solution... A Higher Ed calendar solution could support multiple campus stakeholders, allow automated governance controls, follow a11y standards, and be easy to extend and develop into non-WordPress environments that are common within Higher Ed digital estates.
Why not use an alternative? The Events Calendar is a cumbersome solution that is not optimized for performance or accessibility. The plugin is also difficult to extend in ways that campus pros need.
Time.ly is another solution, but it's lost favor with Higher Ed pros.
Many campuses build bespoke calendar solutions that require ongoing development support from campus employees.
