I might be able to help out a bit here if necessary!

stefanbohacek commented 9 months ago

Thank you for reaching out @SustReal!

I haven't heard back from Carlos, and his fediverse account seems no longer reachable, so I think it's safe to start the work yourself.

Please review the current workflow and let me know if you have any questions.

My pleasure, @stefanbohacek . I'll have a look on the workflow and will see what I can do. Personally, I'm not the most skilled Esperanto speaker in the world, but I have multiple more experienced friends that I can ask to review my contributions.

@stefanbohacek I've started adding some Esperanto translations to my forked repo. The problem is, I'm a terrible Git & GitHub noob and don't really know what I'm doing in terms of pulls, pushes, and branches. But it's a good training for me. I need to ramp up my Git skills anyway at some point...

Will try to get muchof the translations done throughout the upcoming days. Next weekend I'm on a regional Esperanto meeting an will have some of the more experienced speakers have my translation reviewed.

Had most of the strings translated, but messed up a bit and was working in a wrong locale folder.

I started from scratch now, have managed to set up set locally and will be committing the translation within the next days...

SustReal commented 9 months ago

I've created an /eo folder and translated all strings inside /translations. I've already created a pull request. Please reach out to me, in case I forgot anything. (That's the first time I made a Git contribution from a cloned, local repo).

I'll have my translations reviewed throughout the next days by more fluent Esperanto speakers and might come up with a few quality updates then.

Known issues: There might be two terms commonly used for the Fediverse in Esperanto.

The Esperanto Wikipedia page references the term “fediverso”, but I've seen several people and good arguments stating the term “federujo” would be more accurate. I'm taking no side here, but I will get some second thoughts on this.

@SustReal This is all great work, thank you!

I merged your changes, can you please have a look at https://jointhefediverse.net/ when you have a moment?

SustReal commented 9 months ago

Wonderful @stefanbohacek . Thanks for the merge. That all looks pretty great already – especially thanks to your great web-design. I'm already getting some small tweaks and improvements from fluid Esperanto speakers. I'll push them over the coming days.

Thank you, the changes are now live!
