Yahoo pop3 not working: SSL errors #90

Open Fredator1 opened 4 years ago

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

It's not working anymore for me since around 1 month i manually installed open SSL 1.02d but no change All my email accounts (20) are working in poptrayU 5.2.6 BUT Yahoo... (yahoo pop works in Thunderbird)

Here is the log when i click "test account" "An error occurred. Error Type: EIdOSSLUnderlyingCryptoError Error connecting with SSL. error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure"

Hoping there is still someone around..? Thanks

Yahoo has made any App that connects to a POP3/IMAP/SMTP server that cannot perform Oauth2 as a "Less Secure App", meaning, you need an App password for that app or you'll continue to receive all sorts of bad errors.

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

Thanks for your quick answer GuruSR ! Is there a way to get that kind of app password for PoptrayU, or are you telling me there's nothing to do for now? Btw do you know if there is any chance the app would get updated in the future? Thanks

You should be able to go into Yahoo's website, go into your Account, then under Account Security, you'll see Manage App Passwords on the right side near the bottom, all you do is create one and call it Claws Mail and it'll give you the password to use for it.

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

I did what you said, got a code for "Claws Mail", set it in PoptrayU, but for some reason it still doesn't work "An error occurred. Error Type: EIdOSSLUnderlyingCryptoError Error connecting with SSL. error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure" Thanks anyway, i will survive this

Enable STARTTLS, looks off. That should be on.

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

Still not: "Error connecting: Socket Error. Unable to connect. Socket Error #10060" When i ping "pop.mail. yahoo. com" it works... Thanks for your time anyway GuruSR

GuruSR commented 4 years ago

Okay, but, you're connecting without an SSL issue, so now it ISN'T an SSL issue or a password issue.

https://forum.poptray.org/viewtopic.php?t=3894

Perhaps using the forum there to ask about how they got around it, but STARTTLS needs to be on for all TLS/SSL transactions or it fails because the STARTTLS is a command to tell the server to start secure communication protocol "talks" to determine which one to use.

Authentication should be Normal Password and leaving the SSL / TLS at Auto should work.

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

Well, whatever it is, it doesn't connect with SSL, neither without ^^ "Authentication should be Normal Password and leaving the SSL / TLS at Auto should work" => not working I tried all the settings and their combinations i think Thunderbird works fine. I even connect to all my emails from the phone, i use Bluemail, and i never had to do anything special about applications passwords or protocols, to make all of them work (21 accounts). PoptrayU was working fluently since years, and one day it stopped like that, without having changed anything. After what i upgraded SSL but it did not change anything either. According to some forums that i found, i'm not the only one to struggle with Yahoo and poptray I think PoptrayU would badly need an update, cause all the other things i use or tried can connect, except it. Anyway, that's life, thanks for trying to help me GuruSR, much appreciated

A bit of a pain, perhaps look at this article and see if it helps shed any success.

Fredator1 commented 4 years ago

Thanks GuruSR, but i don't even have the option to “Allow apps that use less secure sign in”... i tried different options when trying with the application password according to the SSl version i choose in Poptray, i get different error messages: v3.0: Error connecting with SSL v2.0: Socket error #10022 V1.0, 1.1, 1.2: Error connecting with SSL
