at the very least, you will need to turn on status changing using the
"Tools/MusicTracker/Activate Status Changing" menu item.
I've had some other reports of not being able to get track info from WMP, which
seem
to be related to Vista or x64
As a workaround until this issue is identified and fixed, you may find selecting
"autodetect" for the player rather than WMP (which will allow musictracker to
use the
'MSN compatible' method for getting track information) may work better

Probably a duplicate of issue 42?

Comment #4 on issue 42 should explain where to turn on the "Windows Live
Messenger
Music plugin"

Ah, ok. It seems you may need to install "Windows Live Messenger" to get that
WMP
plugin installed.

That did it. Thanks!

Issue 42 has been merged into this issue.

Issue 42 reports Vista 32 bit, so this isn't a 64 bit specific issue, it's a
Vista
issue... looks like WMPuICE doesn't work under some circumstances under Vista.

I have this same exact problem, and I'm running Windows XP.
I have the plugin installed and have status changing activated, and I have the
Windows Live Messenger plugin activated in WMP, but the musictracker still
doesn't
work. I get the same errors as shown above.

I can't really investigate this issue at the moment, as I don't have access to a
Vista system.
jbo_110, if you should randomly happen to read this again, as you don't seem to
have
starred the issue, please raise a new issue, and attach a debug log please.

You can fix this problem by opening Windows Media Player, go into options, the
Plug-
ins tab, select "Background" then check the "uICE WMP Plug-in". Click Ok,
restart
Windows Media Player and you should be good. It seems that Music Tracker should
enable this plug-in on Window Media Player so that it can properly detect what
song
is playing.
I have not tested this on 64-Bit versions of Windows yet... Because my x64
Vista is
down at the moment. I will post back once I've verified if it works on x64
Vista.

Hello,
im having the same issue.
One thing to notice is: Im using wmp (x64)! The 32-bit version of WMP does its
job
(showing plugins for Windows Live and the uICE-thingy and it works perfectly
fine)
Is there a fix for the x64-version of WMP? Its weird that not even the newest
version
of windows live messenger offers the x64-plugin for WMP.
