Heart Rate Guided Training. #19

Hi, I am really excited about this app, I have been using a number of propriety running applications and all have failed to implement requested features.

Anyway, I would really love to see heart rate integration into the app at some point in the future. I see that you have already started work on this. I thought the code from googles MyTracks would be helpful in this area, they currently support the Zephyr, and Polar sensors:

Hi Giles,

I have already added HRM,

I also in v1.22 (latest version) added support for handling of heart rate zone, e.g audio cues based on heart rate zones, and target coaching based on heart rate zones.

I.e i think this issue should be closed

Not just yet, I have additional idea about heart rate guided workouts. Particularly relating to interval training (HIIT) in interval training you typically run flat out for x seconds, and then walk for x seconds. There are various different timing protocols for doing this. What I would like is heart rate guided HIIT, so you run, to push your heart rate up to a particular BPM, then walk until it goes back down to a lower BPM.

Hi Giles, revisiting issues:

do you have any references to your proposal above. It's not super hard to do, but having a "real" name for it, and description on how it should work would be good.

I would call this "Heart Rate guided training" (I've updated the bug title) What I had in mind was a UI similar to endomundo:

But rather than being driven by time, it would be driven by a heart-rate tigger. I will spend a bit more time thinking about what the UI might look like.

GilesBathgate commented 10 years ago

It looks like your UI is already designed to allow this, just from the dropdowns in the interval training advanced section I want to add an options to the dropdown instead of "active distance" or "rest distance", the options "active until heart rate", "rest until heart rate"

Hi,

This is possible with Garmin connect workouts that you can upload to runnerup. You can use pace, distance, time and heart rate for target and do interval. This is a example of a workout from the 10K level 2 with heart rate training plan.

I have uploaded a garmin workout with heart rate but i don't see the target heart rate in runnerup UI. Is it supported?

nebmo commented 10 years ago

This workout works for me. Maybe the problem is that you set it to "Other"? image

Yanick7 commented 10 years ago

Thanks for your comment.

I found out that it is the "recovery" and "rest" with target heart rate zone that are not supported by in runnerup. In my last post I did not send the actual workout that I try.(I have send that one for example.)

Other step is detected has active in runner up and that is ok.

Here the test garmin workout that i loader in runnerup.
