Ideally this could be done via GadgetBridge, since I know they poll for this.

Not what I know. RU has support for HR delivered as Bluetooth LE, ANT+ and a few exotic protocols but not gadgetbridge. From what I see, gadgetbridge is an application and not a library that can be integrated to RU. So it seems that interface must be added first.

To add support, you need a device, interest to do so and time. Knowledge will come...
