Thanks for the description - I think it is a natural approach to bringing product-level focus to Sparrow. Of course, as you mention, we'd need to be careful not to use the product ids for bidding. Additional care would need to be applied to reporting too (issue #5). Addressing #6 is a nice outcome!
We think that this proposal could integrate with SPARROW in the following manner:
Interest group building/setting is similar to what is described in this proposal.
Product ids are sent to the gatekeeper, together with the interest group.
They are not used for bidding, but only to generate the creative.
The gatekeeper can ensure that catalog management use cases are covered (cf. https://github.com/jonasz/product_level_turtledove/issues/6) since the advertisers' catalogs can easily be uploaded/refreshed as frequently as needed on the gatekeeper.
