"Matthew — Yesterday at 17:00 [09th / 02 (February) / 2024] I have a question can we do automatic send to mail box (cosmetic) items to the correct account in a store on a website (probably no in client store) and also what realistic options are there for account security?

@Matthew I have a question can we do automatic send to mail box (cosmetic) items to the correct account in a store on a website (probably no in client store) and also what realistic options are there for account security?

Nancok — Yesterday at 18:17 There's nothing in place for that atm. But iirc accounts are properly hashed and secure (at least on release builds)

To use a website as a store i imagine we need a websocket? I have no idea how software-to-website connections work tbh.

The most advanced i've ever done is connect to an FTP server with the file explorer. (edited) [18:18] But considering that the game already runs on web, an online store sounds trivial. Still, i imagine that each server owner would handle their own store, and their own connection to it. (edited)

Matthew — Yesterday at 18:19 Hmmmm so we should probably do a test run? [18:23] Like stores like poe are okay people dont mind random cosmetics so if we get the store and mail box and account security going even like a guide for Im a bit lost myself on whats the best route to take for this kind of project like if we do a community test run to like a paypal or something like people could have little stores and free games and free online = more players and ~10% of ppl are whales and like they can subsidise the server costs so it can be free for everyone sustainably like path of exile with cosmetics only and mail box stuff from a store like wow or osrs / other mmorpgs?

@Nancok But considering that the game already runs on web, an online store sounds trivial. Still, i imagine that each server owner would handle their own store, and their own connection to it. (edited)

Matthew — Yesterday at 18:23 How do we do that as an example most people could do?

Nancok — Yesterday at 18:25 Stores usually work like this: Player logs onto the owner's website Player selects the product and sends their payment Website communicates with the game server and instructs it to modify the database, as to include the product on the user's save data

What we can do is provide a command line so the website has an easier time telling the server what to do. Like "give xXMaXx GoldSword" But how the website communicates with the server is up to the server owner and how they setup their site.

Matthew — Yesterday at 18:29 Ahh so we have a start hmm [18:30] I gotta find some website hosts and like what options people could do to set up there little store.

Matthew — Yesterday at 20:25 This is really important to figure out a sustainable healthy monetisation infrastructure that is 9/10 in terms of fairness where the game / engine / project is the highest quality while still supported financially by the players and this balance where the game is free and things like path of exile monetisation where it is cosmetics only and no player power are really important to the moral integrity of a game / project. So if we can get a mail box of cosmetics bought via a secure account and website store system regular people can set up / emulate this would be a great success that could support many developers make their dream games but not just the smart and talent people today but all walks of life today and tomorrow. A fair 9/10 high technical and moral quality of character way of getting the players to support the game via store and website and buy cosmetics and it covers the server costs and like dwarf fortress it helps pay for new features and expanding the game asset commissions and good community will supporting more good community will to realize great games worth playing sustainably. (edited)

Matthew — Yesterday at 20:54 I don't like monetisation mainly though I see it as a necessity and I'm likely one of the last people to like monetisation but it is a reality that should be addressed properly and people should be paid fairly if possible for their work and grow the community, every big MMORPG has monetization i just wish this go around we can do it better where the game quality is high as free if not made better if possible with monetization. I use Path of exile as an example for many people agree path of exile currently and historically has great monetisation policy where the whole entire game is available for free but the whales can buy the all cosemetics they want the devs get paid, the servers stay up sustainably the game get expanded and its a win win win for the everyday plays the whales and the devs. A sustainable secure and morally good / the community finds it to be fair mail box item account website store monestization system would be a simple and flexible universal solution where everyone wins, the devs, the whales and more over the 90+% of players who just want a cool MMORPG worth playing to grow and expand sustainably and for the community to win. (edited) [20:58] can Itch.io support the website store?

Matthew — Yesterday at 21:04 Itch.io has the game and like paypal could work for a payment collection end and the itch.io website is already hosting the JDungeon MMORPG. Can we do what we did before and have everything in one place like website store in Itch.io or is that like not good? hmmm could the game have a store that Can work hosted on itch.io (I dont like store buttons in game in lowers the quality of the game I feel but I'd rather just a separate website store to make the game experience way way better. or like hide the store in game behind a menu screen and not visible during most game play. perhaps in the esc game menu beside / near options have like 'store' and then options to play pay for cosmetics and they arrive in the accounts mail box for all characters even ones made later (no rebuying stuff to be most fair and best value, like permanent account value check box toggle). Although a separate website could have better security hmmmmmm it all in the same place would be good like if itch.io can host stores for a separate game and accounts hmmmmmmmm

Matthew — Yesterday at 21:14 I'm using google search for how to host online game website stores but its not helping much lts of fluff on there like 'ideas' or 'top 5' but no real answers. I looked at itch.io but my brain is puzzled right now. I wish to find answers how to host website stores that are secure and can buy things and the money goes to x paypal account and the player account gets x in the mail box in game mechanic system to support sustainable MMORPG development that works for everyone. Nancok — Today at 03:03 Personally i'd hate any monetization that affects gameplay. Cosmetics are fine, but in-game incentives to pay money always leave a bad after taste in some shape or form. [03:03] Ofc that i'm only talking about the official server (if we even decide to keep it up in the long run). Other servers can do whatever they want [03:05] With all of that said, i don't really expect any money myself. I'm working on this as a hobby and i dislike mixing hobbies and work.

Mawakajaka — Today at 03:32 I haven't read everything yet but one of the main rules of this project is that it can not and will not be affected by money. [03:32] It can accept money for maintenance cost but that is it [03:33] Nothing in game can be bound to money. This game is for everyone, created by everyone who wants to contribute [03:34] For security we can (and I've already implemented it in the first version of jdungeon) have an email verification system for account creation and password management

@Nancok Personally i'd hate any monetization that affects gameplay. Cosmetics are fine, but in-game incentives to pay money always leave a bad after taste in some shape or form.

Matthew — Today at 07:58 I agree, I am the least enthused about monetisation, I wanted to work for Blizzard until monetisation ruined the company and I never liked battle passes or any thing that ruins the game or cuts content out of player progression and any pay to win or pay for power has always ruined any game experience for myself. I see monetisation as a necessary step to support larger servers and to pay people fairly. Currently I have paid thousands of dollars to learn rpg creating and game dev work but I'm not here for the money but I know that the servers and asset creation needs money and a sustainable way for the whales to subsides a free game with all the content for free like path of exile needs a cosmetic store or else the game will not grow, commissions are unpaid and the game stagnates and a slow painful death happens to many free games no matter how well meaning they are. I come from the modding community where everything is a hobby and free and lots of projects die long slow painful deaths as no money = no asset commissions = no content = no new players = cooling off of the project = obscurity and death. As the main game that supported it gets money and can grow the studio to make more games as the modders were just value added free work for the monetised devs. Its a harsh lesson I had to learn that good will only goes so far and I've gone down with so many modding team ships being the moral booster and trying so hard to keep people together. I run a company that sells cedar and people work for money a lot more than good will. I want this to grow but it needs a store to make things sustainable, you cant expect people to work for free forever. trust me I have done this across many games online and not and it stunts the potential and 1-3 people do 90% of the work 1-2 years later burnout the project dies complete or not and its brutal for moral. I don't like monetisation I hate it and 9/10 times it ruins games but 1/10 times to helps like Path of Exile or Private server WoW. (edited) [08:01] I can't make the game pay to play either for I want the whole game free for people to enjoy and having 2-16k servers will cost money and donations can kill projects so cosmetics have been a success story to do monetisation where everyone wins and the game is still free, all the content is fairly available to all the players and all power is earned.

Matthew — Today at 08:15 In the eyes of the community the necessary lesser evil and most sustainable montization is where there the store is not in the game is cosmetics only a mail box system and where the store is in a separate website and everything in the game is free and all power is earned. Not even convenience or 'make it faster for money' just let the whales buy cosmetics subsidise the server costs with fair value given to them dont beg for money either that is weak and people will disrespect you and its just petty if you are a person with dignity. I don't go on wellfair or disability even if I am injured or broke in the past I'd rather be beyond poor and injured and work injured than say I am disabled and the same as homeless losers with no morals and values. I have broken bones and crushed my ligaments and had no money for months and I worked injured with one hand one leg and everything hurt because I do not believe in asking for donations and being a bum loser like most people on wellfair or disability or any money handout to accept being a weak useless victim in life unable to solve their own problems and those of others. I refuse to accept petty cash or sell out my moral values even if I need the money even if I cannot pay for my cost of living I either work and die in poverty or I work and be a success no matter what I must uphold my values and who I am money or not you cannot sell out your soul. I feel fair trade is where everyone wins but I hate monetisation. Yet we need monestisation to grow or else we face being a bunch of bums and or project death. I have run on free work and good will I have for decades but no one else does and its not responsible to assume people will be willing to work for free for years. You need to fairly pay your staff properly even if you don't get paid they need to its only fair. (edited)

@Mawakajaka Nothing in game can be bound to money. This game is for everyone, created by everyone who wants to contribute

Matthew — Today at 08:35 It needs cosmetics dont be foolish. I hate monetisation more than you I am willing to bet. I know though we will be fools if we dont allow whales to subsidise the server costs with fair value trades not handouts or begging for money or good will. People with money want to support you give them something cosmetic to buy where its a fair trade and the game is intact with proper moral values, no pay to win or cheapening of the game experience. Even if its a shirt you can buy at the end game with in game economy for free even if the store items are all earnable in game give people the option to support the game with cosmetics. I played Kronos wow for free for years I don't pay one cent but people I played with did for cosmetics and I am glad they did for it helped the server stay up and pay for proper moderation so the community was not trash and the game masters where on point way better than retail wow servers. I hate monetisation too many games I worked on were ruined by dumb ass greedy devs and they had gold but ruined it with greed I hate when wow was sold out cheapened and ruined and I feel upset about that still. The devs were good but the damn corporate greed ruined the game with wow. 2005 wow was planned to be sold out. In 2008 the sale was finalized the stupid expansion pack monetization model was made to boost stock value before pumping and dumping the devs as the executives sold out and retired, so much work and good will was ruined by greed and ~2 decades later I am still angry about the creative waste from greed. I know money is need to pay staff and servers and get good moderation and expanded the content with the best creative asset makers in the world but the whales need a fair cosmetic system an excuse to pay for real value in the game even if it can all be earned in game fairly just have the store there so its not petty handout money no begging! No waa the server will shut down give me money cus I am too dumb to run a store. NO! We must have dignity. (edited)

Nancok — Today at 08:39 I am in favor of no micro-transactions. If people want to donate to cover costs then i'd say to welcome them, but there is no need for in-game rewards.

Again, if someone hosts their own server, they can turn it into a XXX game if they so choose. But it really depends on whoever is hosting it. There's no need to put micro-transaction support into the main game either, because the game itself doesn't need to know about to store to offer micro-transactions to begin with.

Matthew — Today at 08:39 Okay so how do we support the servers?

Nancok — Today at 08:39 Let's say you want to host a server tomorrow, you just hookup your store to modify the game's save files and there you go. [08:40] Supporting the server is up to the server owner (edited)

Matthew — Today at 08:40 The staff the commission with the game being entirely free? How can this be done? (edited)

Nancok — Today at 08:40 It is open source, so yes, it is entirely free. There's no intent for profit here

Matthew — Today at 08:42 I dont want the game cheapened and I hate in game stores I hate micro transactions but how do we balance the server cost paying the staff for it and have the game be entirely free and sustainable? [08:42] the code and assets can be free it can be free sure but the servers are not the staff and moderation is not (edited)

Nancok — Today at 08:43 The only thing that needs to be pay is to keep the server afloat. Moderators and coders would be contributing at will, without any monetary incentive. Same way all other open source games work. Some examples include: Stone Soup Dungeon Crawler Cataclysm DDA Space Station 13/14 Tremulous

Matthew — Today at 08:44 I'm stressed out because I don't want to beg people for money its not good morally. I want a store that offers value and I just hate monetisation with a passion but I know these games need money to operate.

Nancok — Today at 08:45 It all depends on community's good will. This project would not exist without it (i'm sure Mawakajaka could have gotten here on his own eventually, but you know what i mean) [08:46] Don't worry, even if everyone where to leave, the game would remain open source for anyone to host their own server or develop the game further. Space Station 13 has plenty of servers, all with their own code and gameplay. The original dev team left the scene like a decade ago (edited)

Matthew — Today at 08:47 I feel if I say nothing its not responsible either and like I am not sure what is the best option here. i dont wnat to launch a store mid dev cycle that feeling is just like the worst. people feel betrayed and if there is a store it must be at launch. (edited) [08:48] How do we not beg and still get money enough to pay for the staff and commission people who deserve to be be paid for their work like real professionals with dignity?

Nancok — Today at 08:49 Yeah, i feel you there. Since Mawakajaka is hosting the game, it's on him if he wants help with the costs or not. It's coming from his pocket atm.

But i feel like if worse comes to worse, we can negotiate with the community. Introduce minor incentives that don't affect gameplay or something. These kinds of projects are bigger than any development member after all. It is normal for them to shift drastically.

House9919 — Today at 08:51 Another option would be to set up a Patreon site. That way, people could donate money to help out with the server's cost, and for that they could get discord roles to be closer with the staff/developers, and maybe other smaller things.

Matthew — Today at 08:52 https://itch.io/c/1557879/lucifer all of these was paid as a commission to this amazing talented artist to be made into cc0 but it not sustainable. I cant in good will just depend on begging or like having people pitty me or like we need ways for people to support the game dev cycle and server costs, pay for good moderation too. Has anyone here ran a business with employees and made over a million dollars even gross / total value generated? itch.io Lucifer - Collection by FoozleCC A collection by FoozleCC

Nancok — Today at 08:53 This isn't a business tho. It is a community project.

Right now, the only goal we have is to make the game work, how people run it and sustain large servers is out of scope.

Matthew — Today at 08:56 Like why cant we just have an automated test run for a store a paypal and like a mail box just to get the mechanics working and we can all sit down and figure out the morals and values? I want this game to be free to pay for all the content in my heart, but i k now in my brain that thats dumb because this is an online game, if it is going to grow it needs money form the whales or else we end up like 100's of random projects that never got a proper chance and in my heart I would hate for this project all of this work to be just a hope and a dream. Its like I hate monetisation with a fiery passion. I've seen my work on games ruined by it. I want this ideal game that is free its open source but it must be sustainable too to grow.

Nancok — Today at 08:57 Again, you can have that, but that's not something that must be coded inside the game. [08:57] It is dependent on the website that hosts the store.

Matthew — Today at 09:01 I dont want this to have the same fate as like so many modding communities I'm stressed out because I feel people here are not being serious with how expensive an online game is to do a good job and grow sustainably. Even if you work for free its not enough for you need new assets you need moderation you need server costs like without a price tag on the games you cant reasonably sustainably pay for that and if you beg its like morally bad, we are able people we are not cripples nor victims even if we cant function properly or have no money we can still can choose to help ourselves and support others. So its like how do we have the best of everything and still have enough money to cover the operating and growth costs? (edited) [09:02] I hate in game stores too its not easy for me to ask for this.

Nancok — Today at 09:03 You should not be worrying about all that, that's up to the server owner. Sure, Mawa owns a server, but it's mostly for testing, there is no guarantee that player profiles won't be deleted in the near future if development requires it

Matthew — Today at 09:04 Although I hate in games stores and microtransations yet feel worse if I just didnt even address it and I know better I been sunk on the so many projects and like I gotta do better this time. I might be captain good will but like this is for everyone and regular people need like monetisation options to supoort their games.

@Nancok You should not be worrying about all that, that's up to the server owner. Sure, Mawa owns a server, but it's mostly for testing, there is no guarantee that player profiles won't be deleted in the near future if development requires it

Matthew — Today at 09:04 yes but what about the community? [09:04] what about therir games from this engine?

Nancok — Today at 09:04 That's up to them, we have no control over how they run their servers

Matthew — Today at 09:04 why make this open source if it just for 1 test demo? [09:05] don't you want to support the community and their games? [09:05] I do

Nancok — Today at 09:05 It's not just for 1 test demo, anyone can host their own sever. In fact, it is a necessity for testing. I host one daily [09:05] You could host a server right now and put up a store if you wished, nothing is stopping you

Matthew — Today at 09:13 I was writing a frustrated post about people not having a chance for they lack the sustainable tool but I think we all have been there.

@Nancok You could host a server right now and put up a store if you wished, nothing is stopping you

Matthew — Today at 09:14 how can we do this so it not just me or us who are well off but who can we empower people who are less fortunate but maybe just as talented or really need help to start?

Nancok — Today at 09:15 That's the thing, i am crap with web related stuff. Rn the game-code has everything to support a website modifying a local file. The thing is making a website modify a local file, which is unrelated ot the game. [09:15] You know how minecraft servers have stores but the game has 0 support for it? It would work the same way.

Matthew — Today at 09:15 I would feel guilty not helping people if I did well like the store template is for making sure these community people have a little guide they can trust to get a little store of their own too. [09:17] I know a a bunch of women who would be great at this men too but the tools and the sustainability just scare them away and I want they to have chance and little guide to follow to make their games they always wanted to but never were supported.

Nancok — Today at 09:18 I am sure we can put togheter a guide eventually, altho i am not the best person to make such a thing.

Matthew — Today at 09:21 I am so haunted mate

Nancok — Today at 09:30 I remember a bit of javascript, i think i have an idea of how to make this work.

Whoever owns the server hosts it. They setup some API for handling the payments (i do not own a bank to make my own payment system, at least) Let the server write to a file every transaction done Let the game read the file and apply a change on the character based on that (edited)

Matthew — Today at 09:32 I am not an emo edge lord but like I had these friends who like are dead and I feel like we should have made a game together but they got eaten alive by like bad life stuff and like I have these notes and like I feel if the world was a better place some people who like are beautiful souls could make games they dreamed of. I have these sad dreams of playing this game that's so beautiful but the people there are my dead friends if the had survived and its hard to feel so alone like if I give up its like all these dreams we had together end so I can't quit. I feel so cold inside knowing that there are people who need this support these tools and store options because like one of my friends all they could do is stuff like this. When they gave up on their dreams they tanked and they died of a broken heart and just shitty life situations because they were born poor but I wish they had a chance. I was not the smarter or the best or whatever but I survived and its not about me or the money its about sharing these dreams so they can in way live on and people can enjoy what in a realistic world should not exist but I refuse to let old dreams die even if the all thats there a skeletons and broken dreams its like someone has to break through and empower these people. I don't want money but the world does I just want to these realize shared dreams. I am haunted in my sleep I see this MMORPG world again and again and I have to make it not just for me but for everyone. Its too beautiful to die with me. I just have to share it with everyone then I can die in peace. Until then I must keep working no matter how long it takes no matter the cost. I will die eventually but hopefully before then I can share these beautiful dreams of a world that is meant to be shared with the entire human experience. (edited) [09:38] I don't feel special or like better than anyone I just want people to experience what I see and feel in my dreams and that in the end everyone can have a chance to make their dreams real and share with the world. Its not easy but its important. Someone has to empower the community.

@Nancok I remember a bit of javascript, i think i have an idea of how to make this work. Whoever owns the server hosts it.They setup some API for handling the payments (i do not own a bank to make my own payment system, at least)Let the server write to a file every transaction doneLet the game read the file and apply a change on the character based on that (edited)

Matthew — Today at 09:46 thank you for helping. I just want people to have a chance too. I dont like monetisation personally but its not about me or my values and life its like sometimes its necessary to pay people for their work and like some people need help and financial support or else they fade away into memories. If we can just get a basic example of a store and the game working and like the tools a guide and like the community can pick their values its just its important to be able to support people let them have a chance at building their dreams sustainably. (edited) [09:47] I feel guilty like I don't want pitty but I want to be honest too why I feel these things.

@Nancok I remember a bit of javascript, i think i have an idea of how to make this work. Matthew — Today at 09:48 maybe paypal like itch.io accepts paypal payments to devs

Nancok — Today at 09:49 I think itch.io only connects to paypal to handle donations trough the site, i don't think you can send them your own transactions for them to handle. Paypal should work tho.

Matthew — Today at 09:50 okay that makes sense.

Nancok — Today at 09:50 I've heard paypal is very shady tho. But i don't remember which other options are available. The host would choose whichever they prefer in this case.

Matthew — Today at 09:51 stripe is on itch.io (i'll check) [09:51] https://itch.io/docs/creators/payments itch.io Accepting Payments and Getting Paid

Mawakajaka — Today at 09:52 in opensouce project you can actually rely on donations [09:52] godot is completely opensource [09:52] but some companies invest in it [09:53] to get some features in [09:53] or help the project grow

Matthew — Today at 09:53 yes but like I don't want people to beg even its logical like for personal reason I will never beg for money and I want store options for the community to make their games with. [09:54] a store offeres a trade

Mawakajaka — Today at 09:54 I don't think begging is the correct word here

Matthew — Today at 09:54 I know

Mawakajaka — Today at 09:54 it's just a different mindset

Matthew — Today at 09:54 it is just in my heart it feels like even if in my brain its not begging

Mawakajaka — Today at 09:55 the opensource mindset is against intuition, but some major projects have proven to be sucessfull using it

Matthew — Today at 10:04 I just want people to have the option for a store too they can figure out the values of whats fair. I feel the main open source engine 'core' should be very free its just the other people have these games mate in them they need support.

@Mawakajaka but some companies invest in it

Matthew — Today at 10:06 how do we do this but for the game? like i want there to be value options for people and players who support these community games [10:06] I dont want a paid to play thing [10:06] or liek a bad store or like anything that hurts the game i dont like

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:07 on itch there is an option to donate the project [10:07] on github as well [10:07] I just haven't enabled it yet [10:07] as it will probably require some legal stuff as well

Matthew — Today at 10:08 the website store and mail box system might be used for cosmetics but like I want people to have options too its not just me or you it like the community and their games probably better than ours but they need mechanical support a guide like something.

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:09 but could you be a bit more precise of what you want to sell in the store? [10:09] keep in mind, the game can not be related to any money for gameplay

@Mawakajaka as it will probably require some legal stuff as well

Matthew — Today at 10:10 oh if you get a company make sure its eventually a corporation even a private one so the taxes and legal protection are better than a proprietorship.

@Mawakajaka but could you be a bit more precise of what you want to sell in the store?

Matthew — Today at 10:11 a shirt or tabard that can earned in game or just made for free but like you can also buy it and it goes in the mail box for every character on the account even ones made after so its big value and no double purchases so it very fair.

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:11 nope [10:11] this is not allowed in this project

Matthew — Today at 10:12 okay well what do you think would be a good solution then?

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:12 if people want a shirt or tabard, they can play the game to earn it [10:12] not buy it (edited)

Matthew — Today at 10:12 yes they can earn it in game, nothing is gated or locked

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:15 another way to support opensource projects is to sell memberships:

companies can buy a membership to get some saying in the roadmap

Matthew — Today at 10:15 its just like where its almost irreentlt to buy it becasue it can be made in game fro free but its there if people want to pay or get cosmetic , nothing is exclusive or pay to get everything is avoiable for free in the game. Or like I remember in kronos wow you could play everything can get the cosmetic only store stuff for free same with turtle wow where they had a cosmetic store but you could earn the stuff in game too like fairly too.

@Mawakajaka another way to support opensource projects is to sell memberships: companies can buy a membership to get some saying in the roadmap

Matthew — Today at 10:15 yes but like its monthly and like osrs has this and they gate most of the game off with this (edited)

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:16 no really, take it very literally, this game will not be related with any money or commercial platform

Matthew — Today at 10:16 also we must avoid a wow token / membership time token thing it fuels bots and gold farming

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:16 I know I will sound stubborn but this one of the root rules when I started this project

@Mawakajaka no really, take it very literally, this game will not be related with any money or commercial platform

Matthew — Today at 10:16 well what about the communities games? [10:17] like its not just me or you

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:17 what are these?

Matthew — Today at 10:17 like people want to make games they lack the accessible tools to make proper online rpgs [10:18] they could make more than just medieval fantasy one they could make sci fir or horror or whatever its like if we make the tools and options then the community can be empowered to make their dream games what ever they are.

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:19 anyone can do whatever they want with this code

Matthew — Today at 10:19 This project is really important for its a pathfinder

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:19 that's the whole point of opensource [10:19] but this project itself, and on the hosted servers will not be linked to any money

Matthew — Today at 10:19 can we have a pure open source main project and like a branch that is hwo to set up a store so peopel have a guide but the main project is free?

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:20 yes

Matthew — Today at 10:20 okay that sounds good [10:20] I am very happy you put up with me [10:20] I realized I was dumb

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:20 people can do whatever they want with this code as long as they honor the license

Matthew — Today at 10:20 I should have said the branch thing first but i was too like not thinking to communicate well (edited)

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:20 which is BSD 2 which basically means they need to reference this project in theirs

@Matthew I should have said the branch thing first but i was too like not thinking to communicate well (edited)

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:21 it's ok, but I needed to be very clear on the monitization topic as I don't want this project linked to it. [10:22] but I'll give you an example of something I actually done myself: [10:22] some people contacted me with some questions about networking and asked if they could get some help [10:23] I did it for some commission, for my this is perfectly fine. Since it is not directly on this project. [10:23] so there is value in contributing to this project [10:23] but just not directly with this project

Matthew — Today at 10:23 Okay so we have a the mian branch all free open source amazing help and a branch just to be a guide for people to set up a store so they have option so we get best of both like main project is pure no store just amazing and like a branch example thats like how to set up a store and what options there to follow along with a guide? Would this make sense and keep the high standard intact and also give people store options and guides?

@Mawakajaka it's ok, but I needed to be very clear on the monitization topic as I don't want this project linked to it.

Matthew — Today at 10:23 Yeah thats the right call I was being too hazzy like not clear (edited) [10:26] I think what you are doing is really good and in my heart of hearts I want the main project to be free and no store but I feel in my brain a branch for how to set up a store guide would help people too. Its just hard for me to communicate properly at times I'm not the best at balancing the ideas and being clear 100% of the time. I wish I was better at communicating more clearly. I should have figure out and said the main free branch and the optional side store guide branch thing first it would have been way better. (edited)

@Mawakajaka but just not directly with this project

Matthew — Today at 10:28 Okay thats good

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:28 It's al fine for me, but someone should implement it. [10:28] People can have all great ideas

Matthew — Today at 10:28 yeah thats true hey?

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:28 but if no one actually does it [10:28] it will stay with the idea

Matthew — Today at 10:30 Okay so main branch is free and an optional like community made store set up guide branch would be a good balance of how to get the best of both so your work is all on what you feel passionate about and the community can set up their store stuff guide thing without bugging you and like its a good balance?

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:32 anyone can do whatever they want with the project on their branch [10:32] as long as the main is free

Matthew — Today at 10:32 Okay thats is super good to hear [10:33] I just needed to hear that from you to make sure you like are happy and things are well meaning and good [10:34] okay I guess like the community can start working together on like a branch for store options and tinker and feel everything out making a guide and like main branch is intact and very good and I feel this can work well so everyone can be happy. [10:35] I feel a lot better now that this server support money store thing is like clear and options are able to be created and things are well balance and everything is happy.

1 [thumbs up from Mawakajaka]

Mawakajaka — Today at 10:35 now I'd suggest that we use this channel again for networking related topics XD

Matthew — Today at 10:36 lol I agree lol sorry. can I copy paste this on github so my memory like doesn't forget important details and be dumb like in 2 months? (edited)
